Pair of Loving Orchids

Description

Nayanmitra presents a Pair of Loving Orchids, fluid acrylics on canvas, 50 cm by 50 cm – using double pour technique over two reversed coke bottles, embellished by light brush work.

I have adapted the poem by Sam Hamill to describe this work.

The Pair of Orchid Flowers

Just as I wonder whether it’s going to die,

the pair of orchids blossom,

and I can’t explain why it moves my heart,

why such pleasure comes from two little flowers on a long spindly stem,

A pair of golden yellow and purple flowers opening at the end of summer,

tiny, perfect in its hour………

………… pistil and stamen, pollen, dew of the world, a spoonful of earth, and water.

…….there is tremendous beauty blossoming after months of latent energy,

giving you hope….
