Description

This was adapted from a ceiling painting I saw at the Tooth temple in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

Again, it is a symbolic drawing with a bindu at the centre, surrounded by 8 petals of the lotus flower. Surrounded by 16 lotuses and 16 petals in the shape of the mango fruit. The green foliage is also circular or in the shape of a mango to create a sense of unity in the design. Earlier, I have explained the significance of numbers 8, 16. The Lotus flower symbolizes good character; the mango fruit symbolizes fertility and abundance. The gold colour represents Aatma or your soul. Green symbolizes fertility.
