Description
Nayanmitra presents an offering of flowers, fluid acrylics on canvas, 24 inches by 24 inches.
Flowers are offered to the deities at home shrines and temples in all the Eastern cultures.
According to a verse from the epic Mahabharata, when a pious man with a pure heart offers flowers to the deities, the deities become gratified and as a result bestow prosperity upon him.
Yes, flowers play a significant role in almost every religious ritual in Hinduism. Any religious ceremony, be it offering prayers or performing Aarti, is incomplete without flowers. Worshiping Hindu Gods and Goddesses with flower offerings is not only considered auspicious but has its own importance too.
Similarly, the Buddhists also believe that flowers are exceedingly pure. They are rich with abundant qualities of design, color, fragrance, and soft touch. By nature they are a supreme source of joy in this world.
If you live in a house decorated with flowers, your mind will abide (in calmness) and attain (spiritual) fruit.
Here is my offering of flowers, the full canvas and the view from all the four sides of the canvas.
