Surya Namaskar in a French Cathedral

This art work was influenced by his trip to Paris, and the visit to the various cathedrals. Nayanmitra loves the large gothic windows and ceilings in these churches. He believes that temples, churches, mosques or your home shrines are the same. When you close your eyes in any shrine of any faith, you feel the same positive waves. He says, ‘I just imagined how beautiful the light reflecting through the gothic windows would be – beginning with the first rays in the morning, and ending with the hues of oranges as the sun sets into twilight. I then imagined the beauty of performing Surya Namaskar (or the Sun Salute poses of Yoga) inside the church in the reflections coming through the gothic windows’
